Award winning engine: This good-looking SUV comes with an impressive array of modern state of the art features and a tried and tested durable and reliable engine that has already proved its worth in over 10 million vehicles, since 2010. The Overland boasts the powerful 3.6 L Pentastar V6 petrol engine with a seamless 8 speed automatic transmission, delivering 210 kws and 344 Nm of burning love to this American hunk of 70% high strength steel – available in a longer 7-seater too btw!

Driving: Living in gorgeous South Africa we are blessed to be able to visit 1000s of stunning destinations, all over the country, both on and off the road. The Overland will get you to your chosen spot in style and comfort and with excellent all-weather capability and numerous safety technical advancements, you will be suitably impressed with the overall handling and general driving appeal. The Jeep registered Selec-Terrain Traction Management System and Quadra-Lift Air Suspension work in unison to ensure that you and your family have every opportunity of travelling and arriving safely to your chosen memory creator, giving you every reason to book that holiday and the next! Average consumption averages between 10 and 11 liters per 100 kms on the open roads and increases to 12 to 14 kms in town, depending on whether you are late for the braai or not! The beautiful sound of the engine singing like Katy Perry’s ROAR, can be heard when putting your foot down hard on the pedal between various speed limits. Jeep says that the Grand Cherokee features over 100 advanced safety and security features, including high tech stuff like: Adaptive Cruise control, Active Lane management, Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking, Rear Cross Path Detection, Active Lane Management, Cyclist or Pedestrian warnings and more.

4x4: When you are unpacked and if you are one of those nature enthusiasts, champing at the bit to explore the great outdoors, then you are in the right vehicle. As you begin your adventure off the beaten track, you can choose between five 4x4 modes, namely, Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow or Mud/Sand at the flip of a toggle switch and enjoy your outdoor experience with confidence. On the beach, I left it on the Auto mode and was pleasantly dazzled by the effortless way in which the Overland journeyed over the sand. Thanks to the air suspension and the Quadra-Drive II 4WD system which includes electronic limited-slip differential for the rear axle, the Jeep can wade through water up to 610 mms deep with a maximum ground clearance of 287 mms. This impressive clearance allows this Jeep to boast admirable offroad handling and superb ability when taming difficult terrain.

Interior: The spacious cabin feels almost cockpit like, and I must say that I did for one quick moment, cast my mind back to Maverick in the Top gun movie that honored our screens 3 decades ago. The ergonomically designed dashboard is home to sleek looking air conditioner vents, a well-positioned Centre stack for great driver accessibility and the Uconnect 5 NAV system which includes, a 25.6 cm Uconnect digital screen, a 26 cm front passenger interactive display, Aux/USB, integrated voice command with BT, voice text reply, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple car play, HD radio, navigation, SiriusXM guardian/traffic/travel, Tom tom navigation and more.  The Head-Up Display was a first for me and I loved it. Essential information such as the speed, lane detection and name of street is projected onto the windscreen so that you can always keep your eye on the road, whilst listening to the superb 19 speaker Macintosh audio system.

Overall impression: What a car! If you are looking for a good-looking mid-sized, luxurious, and capable SUV 4x4, that can go anywhere and get you to your destination in comfort and style, with an award-winning engine and plenty of safety features, then look no further than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4.
