On Friday the 26th of August, Grant Lottering will commence his 10th Im’possible Tour, #20onHuez. With the support of Mercedes-Benz Vans, the tour will be in honour of Laureus Sport for Good SA’s 20th Anniversary and it will see Grant cycle the famous and feared Alpe d'huez mountain route 20 times over. Starting on the 26th of August, Grant will cycle a distance of 551 kilometres whilst climbing over 25 000 meters in a single cycle. The #20onHuez Im’possible Tour is filled with purpose and meaning. As well as being in support of an incredibly special cause, the #20onHuez Im’possible Tour also has a deeply personal message behind it, which Grant wants to share with the world.
“The inspiration behind this tour is to remind people never to give up on their dreams,” says Grant. “During this tour, I will be fulfilling a dream that I have had since I was a teenager. The Alpe d’huez is every cyclist’s ultimate prize and vision, but, due to various circumstances, I was never able to finish that dream when I was a young professional cyclist. It was only many years later, in 2014, that I had the opportunity to cycle the Alps and fulfil that dream. Now, with the help of Mercedes-Benz Vans, I will be back where it all began, cycling this famous and feared stretch of mountain road … with my ultimate prize being in aid of underprivileged children.”
