Pretoria, South Africa - 08 July: Jaguar TCS Racing will be at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase the future of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship through a public demonstration of its Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE.

The Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE, Jaguar’s most advanced race car to date, is currently in the midst of an intense test programme ahead of the first rounds of the 2026/2027 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in December of this year.

The Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE will be put through its paces at the legendary motorsport festival on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 July by Brazilian talent Fernando Barrichello. A Euroformula Open Championship race winner who is currently competing in FIA Formula 3, Barrichello will be taking part in his first ever Goodwood Hillclimb.

Fernando, who has also competed in Brazilian and Spanish F4, is the son of 11-time Formula One race winner and two-time Formula One World Championship runner-up, Rubens. The 20-year-old’s participation at Goodwood is part of both Jaguar TCS Racing and Formula E’s drive to nurture young talent.

The Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE that Fernando will drive at Goodwood is a car that is set to revolutionise motorsport with its launch for the 2026/27 Formula E season – the GEN4 era – representing another seismic performance step in the all-electric World Championship’s evolution.

There will be a substantial increase in performance and technology for GEN4, with 450kW race power – up from 300kW in the current GEN3 Evo era – and 600kW power available for qualifying and in ATTACK MODE, an increase of 250kW compared to the current regulations.

The first Formula E car with Active All‑Wheel Drive (AWD) across all phases of qualifying and races ‑ and with five times more power available through the front axle – GEN4 will also feature enhanced 700kW regenerative braking, all‑new Bridgestone dry and wet weather tyres, and two bespoke aerodynamic bodywork configurations.

The Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE’s unique test livery illustrates the dramatic pace of technological advancement in Formula E, a championship Jaguar has competed in since 2016 and the GEN1 era as part of its race-to-innovate strategy. The test livery depicts simulated speed data traces around the iconic Monaco circuit from Jaguar’s GEN1, 2, 3 and 4 cars. At the braking point for the iconic Nouvelle Chicane, Jaguar’s GEN4 car is predicted to be travelling almost 80km/h faster than the simulated speed for its GEN1 car.

Fernando Barrichello, Jaguar TCS Racing driver, said: “I am honoured to drive for Jaguar TCS Racing at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is the first time I have driven the famous Hillclimb, and to do it with a World Championship-winning team is a real privilege. It is going to be very exciting to drive the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE at Goodwood. There is so much anticipation around the new GEN4 era of Formula E that to drive the car at such an iconic event as Goodwood is going to
be incredible.”

Ian James, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, said: “Putting the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE through its paces at Goodwood Festival of Speed is going to be a milestone moment for the whole team and Formula E, as we show thousands of people just what the GEN4 cars are going to be capable of.

“It is also a great moment to welcome Fernando into the team. Giving a platform to young talent is important to us and bringing the iconic Barrichello name to Goodwood is going to be very special. We look forward to seeing Fernando take on the Hillclimb.”
